Founded by queer travellers and run entirely by members of the LGBTQ+ community, LGBTQ+ Backpackers was born out of a deep understanding of how challenging travel can be for us.

There’s a unique kind of isolation that comes from being far from home and far from your community - a double disconnect that many straight travellers simply don’t face. That’s exactly why we created this space: to connect, support, and uplift queer travellers around the world. After countless requests from our growing community, we took things a step further - and began offering queer group trips designed to bring LGBTQ+ folks together to explore the world, safely and authentically.

🌈 What Are Queer Group Trips?

Queer group trips are travel experiences for anyone who is LGBTQIA+! Instead of blending in or staying quiet, these trips give you space to show up fully and unapologetically as yourself. Our queer group trips (operated by Gap 360) have had such incredible feedback that two travellers who joined us in Thailand booked the queer Philippines trip just a few months later.

🔥 Why Our Queer Group Trips Are Different

Currently most LGBTQ+ Group trips are cruises exclusively for older gay men, and whilst we LOVE gay men & we LOVE cruises, we need a space for everyoneeee, to enjoy backpacking whilst being surrounded by likeminded people. That's why we exist! Whether it’s a queer surf camp, a Thailand backpacking adventure, or a Greek Island hopping escape - Our trips are predominantly made up of queer women, trans & non-binary travellers - though everyone is welcome!
