From Queer Group Trips to Pride Reunions: How Our Queer Group Trips Sparked Lifelong Connections

One of the most beautiful parts of our queer group trips isn’t just the incredible destinations-it’s the friendships that blossom along the way. And recently, we got to witness something truly heartwarming: two of our past travel groups taking the initiative to reunite and keep the spirit of our adventures alive.
First, let’s rewind. Not too long ago, Gap 360 (our tour partner) operated two unforgettable queer group trips for LGBTQ+ Backpackers - one to vibrant, culture-rich Thailand and another to the breathtaking islands of the Philippines. Each trip had its own magic: from late-night beach bonfires and temple visits to shared laughter over delicious street food. But beyond the sights and sounds, something deeper happened: life long friendships were formed.
Brighton Pride Reunion
After our Philippines adventure wrapped up, some of the travellers stayed in touch. Plans began to brew, and before long, they decided to organise their very own reunion-this time at Brighton Pride! A weekend filled with laughs, dancing and that warm sense of familiarity you get from seeing friends you made halfway across the world - with one person even flying all the way from California for it!
Amsterdam Pride Reunion
Then, it got even better. Travellers from both our Thailand and Philippines trips decided to join forces for another reunion-this time at Amsterdam Pride. Imagine it: people who met thousands of miles away coming together again, surrounded by one of the most iconic Pride celebrations in Europe. It was living proof that our trips are more than just holidays; they’re the start of lasting queer community connections.
LGBTQ+ Backpackers Community
These reunions weren’t organised by us-they were entirely traveller-led-which makes them even more special. We love offering queer group trips that bring people together, but seeing those connections grow and thrive far beyond the trip itself is the ultimate reward.
It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do. Travel is transformative-not just because of where you go, but because of who you meet along the way. And for our queer travellers, these journeys often spark friendships that cross borders, time zones, and continents.
Here’s to more queer group trips, more connections, and more reasons to reunite-whether that’s under the tropical sun or in the heart of Pride celebrations around the world.
